Two New Pastors in Spain

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Spain (IELE) is seeing growth in the number of men serving as pastors. Two new pastors were installed in Spain Sunday, October 13th. Felipe Lobo from Spain was ordained during the service, joining the newly ordained Missionary Pastor Isaac Machado as the fifth and sixth Lutheran pastors in the country.

There is a need for trained Lutheran pastors to reach the lost throughout Asia with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This project provides scholarships for pastoral candidates to study at Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) partner seminaries and assists in the operating costs of these seminaries. In Asia, seven church bodies in different countries partner with the LCMS through eight seminaries to provide theological education for future pastors. In many cases, these students are from the countryside and attend seminaries far from their homes, with the intent of returning to share the Gospel with those in their remote areas.

The Mercy Center, an institute of Concordia Seminary the Reformer (CMSCR), provides a spectrum of educational conferences, from personal witnessing and Christian reconciliation to family and community health and life issues. Disaster response training throughout the Latin American and Caribbean Region is done under the auspices of the Mercy Center.

Music Camp in Lima, Peru

In July, volunteers, Christa Wesley and Libna Destin from Martin Luther Chapel in Pennsauken, New Jersey, traveled to Peru. Their goal was to enhance the normal routine of the children with a week long music camp.
