Project: Mercy House: Castillo Fuerte

Project ID: PE0002-65605

Castillo Fuerte, located in an industrial area of Lima, provides a safe haven for some of the most vulnerable little ones. Working poor spend long hours in factories to make ends meet, leaving school-age children to fend for themselves.

In the La Victoria district, Castillo Fuerte provides after-school care for children with no place to go. Each weekday afternoon, children gather around folding tables for a hot meal, family style. Devoted teachers assist with homework, provide emotional support, and share God’s Word while incorporating extracurriculars like art and music whenever possible. Good behavior is rewarded with much-anticipated outings to a neighborhood park for volleyball or Frisbee.

Twice-weekly chapel services reinforce biblical truths and equip children for active participation in Divine Services. Thanks be to God, many parents are also being reached as a result of Castillo Fuerte. Some accompany their children to the meals, the chapel services and also Divine Services.
