Lutheran Synod of Mexico Celebrates Ordination

Isaac Neftali García Guevara, a graduate of Concordia the Reformer Seminary in the Dominican Republic, was ordained and installed as Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mexico City this past Sunday. Neftali is a native of Rio Bravo and the son of Rev. Isaac García, President of the Lutheran Synod of Mexico.

Honduras Mission Update

This time of pandemic has been a new experience for many people worldwide. The social situation and the negative effect that this has caused is a common theme among people. Work restrictions, unemployment, the rising price of food products, the suspension of urban and interurban transport, medicines, and the improvised virtual educational system – these are some of the frequent topics of conversation.

Sanctity of Life Intensive Course

Our Dominican seminary’s fourth academic year is well underway with its fall classes. Pandemic restrictions are still in place, so classes are being taught via Zoom. With 11 residential students and 24 online students representing 12 countries, the enrollment for pastoral formation is holding steady.

New Missionaries for Belize

Missionary Pastor Micah Wildauer, his wife Robin and their four children arrived in the Dominican Republic this afternoon. Following a period of orientation in the Dominican Republic, they will travel on to Belmopan, Belize, where Rev. Wildauer will serve as a church planter and theological educator.

Latin America & Caribbean Region Presentation

Regional Director and Missionary Pastor Ted Krey spoke to the 2019 LCMS Convention on the afternoon of July 21, 2019. The convention theme was “Joyfully Lutheran.” In this video, Rev. Krey shares stories from his 20 years of missionary service across the region and how the Church is growing day by day.

Jamaica Mission in Pandemic

Pastor Ite shepherded both Kingston area congregations and Parade Gardens Lutheran School (PGLS) through the peak of COVID-19 and continues adjusting to the joys and challenges of a new normal.

The Lutheran Synod of Mexico Appreciates Food Assistance

We were not really prepared to deal with this virus and everything in its wake when the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in Mexico earlier this year. Unfortunately, many people in our congregations were left without jobs. Others saw their wages reduced considerably. As shepherds, we have been able to share in the suffering of our congregants, while at the same time we have our own physical needs.
