VIDEO: Celebrating Work in India and Papua New Guinea

Rev. Roger James, Area Director for South Asia, preaches at the Divine service prior to the May 2017 Election of the Ambur Synod and the General Elections of the IELC.2017 Election of the Ambur Synod and the General Elections of the IELC.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) celebrated 125 years of international mission work this year. As part of this celebration, the Asia region created a series of videos that share how Christ is working in Asia. The videos were first shown at the 67th Regular Convention of the LCMS.

The first video showed the work of the Church in India and Papua New Guinea. The first LCMS missionaries, Theodore Naether and Frank Mohn, served in India. The India Evangelical Lutheran Church remains an LCMS partner church to do this day.

The LCMS also sent numerous missionaries to serve in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The work began in the late 1940s and has borne much fruit. To this day,  generations of missionaries proclaim Christ and Him crucified to the people of PNG.
