Martin Luther’s emphasis on the unique authority of the Bible was a key driving force behind the Reformation. Therefore, it’s appropriate that the Spanish translation of the Confessional Lutheran Dogmatics volume on Holy Scripture (‘Sagrada Scriptura’) was distributed by the VDMA Project on November 10, the anniversary of Luther’s birthday.
Luther’s role as a doctor or professor of Holy Scripture was crucial to his ability to challenge the theological teachings and practices of the church. He taught that the Bible was the sole and final authority for matters of faith and practice, rejecting the notion that church traditions or pronouncements by ecclesiastical hierarchies held equal authority. With his deep knowledge of Scripture, Luther also famously translated the Bible into German, making it accessible to common people.
Sagrada Scriptura, written by Jack Kilcrease and published in English by Luther Academy, is the 8th volume of the Confessional Lutheran Dogmatics series that the VDMA Project has translated and electronically distributed to over 400 pastors and seminary students in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
