“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” — James 1:27
At the end of January 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Project 24 Wamba boarding facility marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya (ELCK). Now, just six months later, we are thrilled to announce the completion of this vital project. The journey from conception to reality was a collaborative effort, and we are deeply grateful to the architects, engineers, construction workers, and all members of the congregations and communities who dedicated countless hours to ensure the facility met all safety standards and was ready on schedule.
The program’s director, Mr. John Kissinger, played a pivotal role throughout the construction process, frequently visiting the site for evaluation and consultative meetings with stakeholders. Additionally, Kissinger, Bishop Kispan of the ELCK Central Rift Valley Diocese, and local regional pastors conducted meetings to establish a board of management, which will oversee the day-to-day operations of P24 Wamba.
With great joy and gratitude to the Lord, we share the fantastic news that Project 24 Wamba is complete. The ELCK and LCMS Africa region are deeply thankful for the support and prayers from all whose contributions have been instrumental in this journey and made the construction of this new boarding facility possible. On August 19th, 2024, the facility will officially open to twenty-eight new students from local churches and communities in the Samburu region. This milestone is a cause for celebration within the ELCK family as they continue to serve and support this community with faith and dedication, sharing the Gospel and building the church.
