The Africa region said goodbye to the Rabe family in August of 2021 as Rev. Rabe transitioned to new work at the LCMS head office in St. Louis, Missouri. Rev. Mark and Stefanie Rabe served as missionaries through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Ethiopia. Mark taught at the Mekane Yesus Seminary in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This seminary is dedicated to training faithful Lutheran pastors and other church workers to serve in Ethiopia. Stefanie served on the Member Care team for the LCMS Africa region and is currently continuing in that work from the States. Mark and Stefanie’s four beautiful children – Noah, Gabriella, Julianna, and Matthias were with them on the mission field.

The Africa Team will miss our colleagues greatly. We lift them in prayer as Rev. Rabe begins his new position as Director of Recruitment with OIM and as the rest of the family settles back into life in the States.

“It has been an honor and a joy to work with you all in the Africa field. I am humbled by your dedication and the many and various gifts the Lord has given each one of you so that you may faithfully serve Him and those who need to hear the Good News of Jesus’ death and resurrection! We all dearly miss working alongside our colleagues in Ethiopia—the Stinnetts—and all of you scattered across the African continent! Yet, we are all still working together, only an ocean apart as together we serve Christ’s Church in the awesome task of service to the Gospel. We never cease to thank God for you in the service to the Gospel!” —Rev. Dr. Mark Rabe
