The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod began work in South Sudan (Sudan at the time) in 1998. Today, the LCMS supports several Lutheran church bodies in South Sudan by providing pastoral care to their refugees in Kenya and Uganda. The LCMS also offers pastoral formation to some refugee congregations in the form of scholarships for pastoral students.
Our mission field worked with LCMS Concordia Seminary in St. Louis to create a curriculum and provide pastors in Africa with an online Master of Arts in Theology degree to meet this need and provide a solution within Africa.
COVID-19 grant helps to support the Evangelical Lutheran in South Sudan in giving aid to church members.
