Letters to Lutheran Pastors in Latin America

This week the VDMA Project distributed 400 digital eBooks of the second of three volumes of Rev. Dr. Hermann Sasse’s Letters to Lutheran Pastors. For more than 30 years, Sasse corresponded with Lutheran pastors in Australia, the United States, and around the world. His collection of letters offers encouraging, instructive, and Christ-filled messages for pastors and seminary students on topics as varied as the Sacraments, Scripture, the Church, mission, church history, and ecumenical issues.

Teaching Law and Gospel

Lutheran pastors and seminary students working in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region. A resource that helps teach the Biblical jewel of the distinction between, and the application of, Law and Gospel, will be invaluable to our LCMS mission work, as well as to our Lutheran partner churches throughout many LAC countries. We thank God for the generosity of the producers of Good News (Defiance, MO). They allow the VDMA Project to share electronic copies of their magazines within the LAC region at no cost to the recipients.

Pastors Receive “The Lord’s Supper”

Many pastors and seminary students in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region are expressing their thanks and gratitude for another great resource provided through the VDMA Project: The Lord’s Supper by Rev. Dr. John Stephenson.

The Healing Medicine of God

Pastors and seminary students throughout the Latin America and Caribbean Region (LAC) are receiving a treat today in the form of a new Spanish translation of Good News magazine: The Healing Medicine of God for You. Distributed electronically by the VMDA Project, this magazine comes close on the heels of Your Good Shepherd, another new Spanish issue of Good News sent out earlier in September.

New Pastor for Guatemala

A Double Blessing

Today Deaconess Cheryl Naumann, Director of the VDMA Project, announced the publication of Spanish translations for two more volumes of the Confessional Lutheran Dogmatics Series: The Lord’s Supper by Dr. John Stephenson and Law and Gospel and the Means of Grace by Dr. David Scaer.

300+ Pastors and Seminarians Receive Good News

Suffering is a common theme in today’s world, whether it be in the church, in the community, in our own lives or that of our relatives. In the midst of suffering, conversation about situations can be difficult. Both church workers and caregivers need encouragement and reminders of how God is with us and cares for us.

Partnership Equals Progress

In 1984, Dr. Robert Preus, president of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, initiated the creation of the Confessional Lutheran Dogmatics series, to supplement Francis Pieper’s Christian Dogmatics. The 13-volume series was then produced by Luther Academy, an organization that promotes confessional Lutheran theology and research through conferences and publications designed to assist the church in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

LCMS President Harrison “Pushed the Button”!

Four letters – VDMA, a Latin acronym which translates “The Word of the Lord endures forever” – united Reformation-era Lutherans in solidarity against their adversaries. Today, for Lutheran pastors and seminary students across 18 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), VDMA refers to the Project that is providing them with a digital library of Lutheran books, to assist in carrying out their work in accord with God’s Word and the Lutheran Confessions.

Moving Forward with VDMA Resources

Our understanding of Jesus Christ – as we confess Him to be Lord and Savior in the second article of the Creed – is well articulated in Christology by David P. Scaer; the sixth volume of the Confessional Lutheran Dogmatics series commissioned by Luther Academy.
