In Thailand, which has a predominantly Buddhist population, local Christians and LCMS missionaries share the true meaning of Christmas.
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod began work in Thailand in 1986 as Concordia Gospel Ministry (CGM). CGM supports the efforts of the local, independent Thai Lutheran church. An urban ministry began in Bangkok, and social-service programs among children and young team prostitutes also started. Current LCMS work in Thailand trains and supports the Thailand Concordia Lutheran Church (TCLC). This work operates in cooperation with the Lutheran Church—Canada. In particular, the work includes theological education, Bible study groups, one-on-one appointments, camps, seminars, special evangelistic events and Bible classes.
